Patient experience of dentistry

There are many initiatives now to improve equitable access to dental care.

Do we really know and  understand from careful analysis of patients'  narratives, all the factors that today's patients take into account ,when deciding whether to seek dental care or even dental advice for themselves or their families?

A lot of useful general work has been done on 'illness narratives', 'discovery interviews' and 'patient experience', to help understand patients' perceptions and their interpretation of the entire trajectory through a care pathway.  It has been invaluable for improving services. Does this exist for oral health and dental care?
